Model "3496" Finger Joint Shaper: 5/8" - 2" Thickness cap. x 2" - 8" width (with lugs on 9" centers) x 7-1/2" - 30" length.
-- Right- & left-hand shapers with cross-transfer section, (2) 3 HP trim motors, (2) 10 HP shaper spindles, tappered spindles, 9" dia. cutting circle. - 1999 rebuild included a new Bonfield BL-62003 cast-iron feed chain with frequency variable chain drive for lug speeds from 60 to 90 LPM. Machine has good drive sprockets, tail drum; good bed rails with inserts, recent air bag pressure head with "quick change" feature, and brush holddowns. Shaper section feed works set at 92 lugs per minute.
-- Equipped with: APQUIP Glue applicator with doctor block and transfer to assembly section.
-- Model "3550" Hydraulic Assembly Press. - 16' max. cutoff cap., automatic cycling, feed speed varies from 50 to 200 FPM. Powered infeed flat top chain with side alignment rolls to the retard section.
-- Pieces advance through the cutoff saw to a moveable limit switch and are cut-to-length, bottom mounted 5 HP flying cutoff saw for continuous non-stop assembly, the cut-to-length piece drops down into a final squeeze chamber while the next piece is cut-to-length, finished lengths are pushed out by the next piece onto material outfeed arms.
-- Machine reconditioned by Bonfield Infdustrial Services in September 1999 and operated until May 2006.
