COLE-TUVE Model PBS Hydraulic Press Brakes are designed for heavy and comparatively short bending requirements. Other press brakes have two bending-length capacities: overall and between housings. However, on the Model PBS the tow are the same, so bending length is not limited for some applications to the pass-through distance between housings as it is on other press brakes. Therefore there is no need to pay the extra cost of a longer brake to get the pass through capacity that is required
On the Model PBS, power to the ram is supplied by a single hydraulic cylinder so ram parallelity during decent and return is assured; therefore there is no need for the components which are used on other type press brakes to assure ram alignment and which increase cost. Two auxiliary non-powered cylinders are used for guiding the ram. With this system, gibs and other costly and maintenance intensive guiding systems are eliminated
The frames of the machines are constructed of structural steel and plate weldments so that dynamically solid and highly stable units result. The standard bed is wider than on other similar purpose machines
The design of these machines provide a very large shut height which can accommodate not only normal requirements but can even be adjusted to the maximum indicated for each machine
Power is supplied by an amply-sized central hydraulic system with the appropriate controls. Operation is from a movable pedestal on a trailing lead. Check valves protect the hydraulic system against overload
