Contactors are heavy-duty electrically controlled switches used to manage power circuits for motors, heaters, and other high-current loads. They provide remote switching, auxiliary contacts, and coil ratings matched to system voltage. In industrial machines like crawler loaders, contactors control motor starts, direction, and safety interlocks. Choose contactors rated for the correct load current, duty cycle, environment, and compatible control voltage.
Verify coil voltage, main contact current rating, AC/DC type, number of poles and auxiliaries, part numbers and compatibility with your starter/control circuits, visible contact wear or pitting, and any test records.
De-energize and isolate coils, cap terminals, secure moving parts, pack with anti-static and moisture protection, cushion to prevent shock, and use a tracked carrier or pallet with clear labeling for heavy or bulky assemblies.
Inspect contacts for pitting, measure coil resistance and contact resistance, verify mechanical operation and auxiliary contacts, tighten terminals, clean corrosion, and replace heavily worn or welded contacts. Test under load after service.
