Check title and VIN, service records, engine start and idle, compression if possible, frame for damage, tire and brake wear, suspension, and electrical systems. Always do a test ride and consider a pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic.

Use a carrier experienced with motorcycles. Choose between open or enclosed transport; crating is best for long distances. Drain fuel if required, secure the bike with soft straps, disconnect or secure the battery, and insure the shipment.

Follow the manufacturer’s schedule: regular oil and filter changes, chain/sprocket maintenance or shaft drive checks, brake inspections, tire pressure and tread checks, coolant and clutch adjustments, battery care, and valve/service intervals.
