    • Overview

Circular knitting machines produce tubular fabrics by knitting in the round on a rotating cylinder. They range from simple single-jersey units to complex, high-speed multi-gauge machines with electronic controls and jacquard capabilities, used for hosiery, seamless garments, and technical textiles. Buyers choose by gauge, diameter, feeder count, and control systems to match yarn type and production goals.

    FAQ

What should I inspect when buying a used circular knitting machine?
Check needle and sinker condition, cylinder and dial wear, electronics/control panel, motor and gearbox, evidence of regular maintenance, and request a live knit test with the yarn you’ll use.
    Which technical specs matter most?
Gauge (E), usable cylinder diameter, number of feeders, max RPM, needle type, and compatibility with yarn counts and fabric structures you plan to produce.
How should the machine be prepared and shipped?
Drain fluids, secure moving parts, pack needles and delicate components separately, protect electronics, use a transporter experienced with textile machinery and insure against transit damage.
What electrical and installation requirements should I confirm?
Verify voltage, phase and frequency, floor load capacity, space for feeders and take-down, compressed air needs, and any required software or control interfaces.
What routine maintenance keeps a circular knitting machine reliable?
Regular cleaning of yarn paths, lubrication of cams and bearings, inspection and replacement of worn needles/sinkers, checking timing belts and electronics, and scheduling periodic professional servicing.
